The report on a hearing son in a deaf family did provide some information that was somewhat extraordinary. The fact that Kaleb is the only one in his family who is not deaf is extraordinary. All of his other family members are deaf, and Kaleb is the one who has taken action as their ears. The report is also surprising in some way since it indicated that Kaleb tends to prefer the deaf culture to that of the hearing world. Such a choice is quite puzzling, but still, Kaleb prefers it, indicating that there happens to be a sense of belonging that comes from the deaf culture.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The report does seem to be useful since it touches on a sensitive area. What I found to be useful about the report was the information regarding cochlear implants. There is always little information about such implants, and the provision of such information from the report provides a lot of clarity. I also got the chance to learn something new from the report. One of the pieces of information that I got to learn was when the students of the Gallaudet University staged a protest with the aim of seeking to put a deaf person to be in charge of the institution in 1988 (CNN).<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The protest provides an indication of the history that deaf culture has. However, there is information that the report has that I already knew. One such piece of information is that of the way people view the deaf as having some kind of problem, which is even indicated in the report by Crowley. There are also things in the report that I happen to find fascinating. One of them is the fact that the use of deaf language tends to have more eye contact, and it\u2019s even more meaningful, as indicated by Kaleb.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
