Health promotion and disease prevention to address health disparities among diverse and vulnerable populations.

The World Health Organization (WHO) defines health improvement as “cultural and ecological actions that enable people to have influence over their wellness.” These treatments are designed to improve and avoid health problems by targeting the underlying sources of illness (Health promotion, 2016). The WHO organization then continues to outline three significant areas of health advancement: excellent health management, health awareness, and healthy communities. Excellent management entails legislators prioritizing measures that minimize sickness and damage and enforcing rules by aligning corporate motivations with public aims. Health awareness refers to the ability to inform the population regarding healthy decisions and provide tools to adjust their actions to enhance their health practices. Healthy societies emphasize communal and political officials who must boost prophylactic medical initiatives in their regions (Health promotion, 2016). The newest recent release from HHS is Healthy People 2030, which explains why societal health factors are so crucial to discover, particularly in disadvantaged groups (Nash et al., 2021).

Disease management and health promotions primarily rely on informing the community about healthy habits, typically achieved via health promotion initiatives. Ecological and behavioral modifications are emphasized in health improvement initiatives (Nash et al., 2021). Since behavioral modifications are critical concerns that initiatives encounter, behavioral concepts have been employed as a foundation to govern program creation (Nash et al., 2021). As a result, the initiatives successfully carry out health promotion and illness control among a wide range of varied and susceptible people.

Discuss the primary, secondary and tertiary prevention.

Primary prevention aims to intervene earlier any medical problems that arise (actions adjustments, minimizing hazardous substances). Secondary prophylaxis relates to illness screenings before indicators appear; at this point, household background and ecological variables are especially significant.  When the illness is established, tertiary prophylaxis seeks to stop it from advancing (i.e., chemotherapy, screening for consequences, and recovery) by stopping it down or preventing it entirely (Picture of America: Prevention, 2017).

Discuss Healthy People 2030 and how its initiatives support current health issues.

Healthy People 2030 analyzes information on existing nationwide public medical concerns, ranks the degree of every problem, and then establishes goals to remove the recognized concerns during a ten-year timeframe. The structure of Healthy People 2030 is established by identifying the suggestions and functions that they aspire to accomplish. After that, the HHS analyzes all of the suggested goals and grants ultimate authorization. Since the COVID-19 outbreak, illness prophylaxis has been a significant priority; prophylactic efforts are critical globally.

Reflect on a policy that you as an APN want to ensure passes as a law to improve health. Detail the approach and members of the committee that help pass this bill.

With the present expense of medical care, legislation pending implementation would benefit a considerable percentage of the community through legislation H.R. 2829, which aims to Eliminate Prices Gouging for Pharmaceuticals Bill. The measure presented in the House of Congress in April 2021 would force the Secretary of HHS to establish benchmark rates for medications inside Federal medical systems if approved (All Info, 2021). Because of pharmaceutical copyrights, several pharmaceutical medications do not have a cheaper substitute. The bill is sponsored by Peter Welch, who Brad Sherman supports. The bill’s progress is overseen by the following committee: Military Services, Environmental Affairs, Monitoring and Compliance, Military Forces, Appropriations and Resources, and the Power and Economics.

Describe the role of the senator, Representative, and Governor and their influence on passing this bill and the political process. Discuss this policy and its impacts on nursing practice.

The proposal has been created, and advocates will deliver it to a congress member from the House of Representatives with the expectation that they will support it. If it is made public, it will be agreed on. When the proposal reaches this stage, a final panel comprising of the House and Senate representatives will be formed to address any lingering concerns with the law on either end of the respective legislative parties. If the proposal refers to national and regional legislation, the Governor functions as the President and possesses authorizing and approving abilities on the national scale. The Governor’s obligations encompass but are not restricted to executing administrative directives and monitoring their execution. If implemented, the program would benefit numerous low-income, disadvantaged individuals who struggle to afford treatment. Furthermore, the higher easily possible services and facilities are, the higher the likelihood individuals will be cooperative, reducing the incidence of medical issues, minimizing medical care costs, and promoting general wellness.

Provide an analysis of the process that influences the development and implementation of health policy for application in the healthcare environments.

Health strategy has been defined as ideas, strategies, and actions to achieve predetermined medical care objectives within a community (Pillai, 2016). The procedure of designing and executing health policies can be lengthy as it includes:  Agenda establishing, policy development, policy approval, policy execution, and policy assessment. Agenda planning is defined as a public concern that has been identified and requires a governmental response. Policy development includes policymakers inside the congressional department who support the topic and begin brainstorming program/regulation/legislation outcomes. Policymakers formally embrace the suggested remedy as a statutory regulation during the policy approval step. The execution phase involves governmental agencies collaborating to develop processes for making the policy function and selecting financing and issuing grants. Finally, policy assessment is performed by experts to evaluate if there are significant flaws with policy execution and to suggest adjustments in either of the preceding processes.

Discuss strategies to foster political action by advanced practice nurses (APN). Why is it essential for APNs to get involved in the political process?

Nurses account for a significant share of healthcare practitioners, providing outstanding patient-centered treatment in various hospital settings. They assume managerial responsibilities and do investigations to improve present procedures. Participation in policy reform is critical since nurses have been on the frontline of patient care. As patient activists, nurses can encourage legislative activity by working with other medical care practitioners, undertaking studies to enhance information, and taking on management positions to improve current health policy via legislative means (Altman et al., 2016).

Discuss economic variables that impact health policy and health promotion locally, state, federal, and international levels.

Healthy People 2030 investigated existing socioeconomic factors of wellbeing. They recognized the following as contemporary financial problems confronting the country: teenagers and seniors who are underemployed and not schooling, individuals presently dwelling in impoverishment, shrinking percentages of available job opportunities for workers, and the rate of youngsters living with at least one full-time operating caregiver. Limitations of accessibility, financial inequities, and regional seclusion are some global socioeconomic characteristics that have a detrimental impact on health advocacy and policies.
