Career development

The scientific study of how and why people evolve throughout the course of their lives is known as developmental psychology. Adult development and aging are now included in this field’s scope, which began with newborns and children and has grown to encompass the full lifespan. More so, Developmental psychologists investigate how people change and adapt as they progress through life. They do studies to assist people in realizing their greatest potential. Babies who aren’t walking by fifteen months may have a developmental delay or be showing indicators of a more significant health problem.

Fauth, R. C., Platt, L., & Parsons, S. (2017). The development of behavior problems among disabled and non-disabled children in England. Journal of Applied Developmental Psychology, 52, 46-58.

The study above are aimed at investigating the “development of behavior problems among disabled and non-disabled” in the British context. The researchers ought to examine if children with disability (boys and girls) have different behaviours from tier peers who are not disabled. In their study, the research demonstrate that children with disability tend to have behavioural problems compared to their peers.

Babik, I., & Gardner, E. S. (2021). Factors Affecting the Perception of Disability: A Developmental Perspective. Frontiers in Psychology, 12, 2459.

This study aim to examine the factors that affect the perception of children with disability. The researcher noted that level of society, family and school environment as the main factors that affect the perception of children with disability.

Limitation

The main challenge of Fauth, Platt, L., & Parsons, (2017) is that the researcher have made solid conclusion from in defining behavioral characteristics of a large population from a small sample size. Essentially, the researchers used 7387 population from a pool of millions of children with disability. Coherently, Babik & Gardner (2021) the factors mentioned are few.
