Counter theft program
Theft in retail stores is a persistent problem that a lot of retail store owners deal with, shoplifting for example is one of the commonest crimes. A 2009 national retail survey showed that shoplifters were able to walk out with goods worth $500 per theft and that the chances of catching them was only 1 out of 48 (Nicasio, 2021). This means that retail stores lose a lot of money to shop lifting and they cannot afford to ignore this problem. While shoplifting is common the outbreak of COVID- 19 has made the situation worse because of the increase in unemployment rate. the pandemic has led to an increase in theft of food stuffs and other essential stuff such as baby formula and diapers.
Shoplifting in Georgia is a criminal offence that can attract imprisonment or fines of up to $ 1000 dollars. The imprisonment time depends on the value of goods stolen. Shoplifting goods that are worth more than $500 can be considered a felony, this can lead to a negative record that can taint and have negative effects on a person future ( Kohn &Yager, n.d.). Despite the consequences, this laws have not deterred people from committing the crime of shoplifting. This is the reason why shopping centers need to engage security companies to minimize on the losses incurred by retailers.

People who commit crime usually do not want to be seen and will try and hide and use non-conventional ways to enter or exit. We provide the best surveillance systems available in the market highlighting and controlling the major entry and exit doors. we also place cameras and personnel in and around the building so as to monitor those who are accessing the building and how they access it. We also provide high tech surveillance in the parking and outdoor areas of any premises. Warning signs can be very effective in deterring crime just by informing them that their every move is being watched, we use signs that are highly visible in and out of the premises to inform people that the property is under surveillance. Placing symbolic barriers that informs shoppers when they are closing from a public space to a private facility and that they are under surveillance. When people know they are being watched they behave better.
Because most things that are stolen are small and expensive the best guards against shoplifting are your shop attendants. We will train your employees on how to spot potential shoplifters by being attentive and looking out for suspicious behavior. We also train them on how to engage with suspected shoplifters without accusing them.
