COM200 Discussion: type of collaboration

Discussion

One of the collaboration tools that I would select is communication and zoom while working remotely. Although documents development and revision, as well as program administration, are excellent tools for collaborative engagement, communication facilities in remote operations are the most practical of the three since they increase the organization’s productivity through simple vocal responses and conversations. Online interaction programs are the most convenient approach to engaging with other individuals remotely, instead of documentation and program management, which demands technological knowledge to use. Organizations may readily share data via verbal presentations and conversations, which are critical parts of collaborative working, by organizing online sessions and sharing texts (Simon, 2021). With this application, it is simple to enhance the productivity and togetherness of organizations by using one of the most fundamental communication abilities: talking.

Zoom is a renowned virtual communication platform for collaborative working, and I chose it because it has numerous advantages.

Advantages

Simple to operate. Zoom’s simple UI makes it accessible to nearly anybody. It is also fairly uncomplicated, as meetups are its major function, with no other complicated ones (Simon, 2021). As a result, businesses can easily arrange and join verbal conferences on Zoom and begin working collaboratively.

Screen-sharing functionality is available. This is critical if the conferences require the display of presentations. An individual can connect his or her device’s or laptop’s display and wirelessly illuminate the presentation, exactly as if they were presenting in a workplace or an auditorium. As a result, having this functionality expands the company’s capacity to deliver concepts and findings within their teams.

Disadvantages

There are no chat options. As I previously stated, Zoom’s major function is conferences, thus messaging comes in last on Zoom’s prioritized list. Organizations can only exchange textual messages, although other communication technologies allow them to exchange multimedia texts like emojis, GIFs, and voice and clip recordings (Giaquinto, 2020). While some of these aren’t particularly vital in the business, having a messenger that can convey various messages can help shatter the ice in a serious setting and spark some amusing dialogue.

There are too many subscription fees and add-ons. Zoom is a subscription-based platform with reasonable entry-level pricing. Nevertheless, a single subscription is insufficient (Giaquinto, 2020). Most programs necessitate an additional payment (or add-on) with various levels depending on the percentage of participants. While most of the entry-level packages are reasonable, the bigger packages are problematic.
