Child Psychology in Action

Child Psychology in Action

I was in the marketplace with my friend who came along with her 9-year-old child to the market. As we were shopping, the child was busy playing with other kids guided by an adult. The game involved punching and kicking one another. After a while, the adult left, and the children continued playing. I observed the child for 20 minutes and discovered that the child continued portraying the kind of actions which he observed the adult doing. This relates to the scientific understanding of children’s behavior where the child used observation of the adult social model’s actions to determine that the game was acceptable (Behavioral and Cognitive Theories | Lifespan Development). Child psychology can help improve the legislation and policies regarding children’s welfare. This is because the persons who execute the policies have a deeper understanding of the various problems that children pass through. By understanding the psychological aspect of children, the policymakers can establish laws that favor the children in relation to freedom of expression and other policies which fight against child abuse.
