Blended learning programs.

A learning program is a process that learners go through or practice to achieve the required qualification standards. It is a combination of ways the students are taught or ways they get to acquire the knowledge they require to achieve their intended qualification. They act as ways to help the faculty and students converge at a central point in understanding the purpose and goals of a course.

Video-based learning stands out as one of the most trending e-learning techniques today. Videos are technology-based training tools, and they visually, by the use of pictures and words, show the learners what they need to learn. Videos use multi-sensory learning techniques in that they use multiple senses to understand the concept the learners need to learn. The use of texts, moving images, and sound gives learners cognitive connections with the units and encourages them to understand its concepts better. This technique appeals to multiple senses, making it advisable and one of the best in teaching students with exceptionalities and English learners. Students with exceptionalities’ cognitive performance differ from the average students, and additional services are required to meet their individual needs. Therefore bringing to play techniques that work or trigger various senses will get to their individual needs. Video-based instructions with practice offer the video learning appeal and give the learners a chance to practice and try out what they have learned. This method gives them a better understanding and strengthens their skills because they are practically engaged in learning (Yousef & Chatti, 2014).

Real-time practice is the actual time when an activity is taking place. Something that is being broadcasted over the exact number of hours, minutes, and seconds. An example is live footage of a football match. Real-time practice with the response is a learning criterion at the same instance, and responses to the lesson are given instantly. An immediate response to the learners guides them in what they do not adequately understand. Concerning learners with exceptional needs, they require some special attention than other students. Therefore in this type of learning technique, they can get the immediate required response about how they practice what they are being taught, and this provides proper guidance to their needs which is very significant for their learning. English language learners can also interact with their teachers and receive detailed guidance to achieve their learning objectives.

Common core aligned means that the learners learning objects are aligned with the outlined learning standards that the learner should attain at a particular level. They can also say that it is a set of educational standards for teaching and testing within a particular period. This will help the students focus on the required skills and stated learning objectives. The common core enables students to get vital education no matter which state they live in. This brings a reference to the exceptional students.

ELA is an abbreviation for English language arts. ELA brings out the importance of a student to know the standard literacy skills of effectively using language like listening, speaking, writing, reading, and math which brings the relationship between numbers and shapes. Therefore ELA and math bring out an aspect of interaction in the learning process.

Video-based instruction with practice; real-time practice with a response; common core aligned; ELA & Math pastes an interactive learning technique or program to learners. This method has the video aspect that appeals to multiple human senses and enables them to try out the learned criteria for memory boost. The aspect of real-time practice with response enables the learners to interact with the teachers appropriately to get and properly understand what might have skipped them. The joint core alignment provides a standard for students to attain the required technological skills after the specific learning period.

Representation, engagement, action, and expression are the three UDL principles. It stands for universal learning design and is aligned with trying to meet the needs of every student in a classroom. The above learning program works closely with the students. It targets the maximum number of senses to activate a learning process. The real-time response gives the learners and their teachers time to evaluate and correct what they missed in class. The students are more engaged in the learning process in that they practice what they are taught, are assessed, and response is given, and get to learn to get to exercise what they have learned. This works in line with the UDL principles. If the student does not want to do the desired practices or activities, it limits the UDL process. The learning program is interactive, and the teachers respond to the student’s practice. In an instance that a student does not practice, he is left behind, and he gets stuck and limits the UDL principles.

CRA model is an acronym for Concrete -representational abstract. It is an instructional technique used in learning where students move from using or noting concrete materials to represent them in terms of drawings using abstract symbols. For example, a concrete dog can be modeled or drawn with the help of the teachers. Video-based instruction with practice; real-time practice with a response; common core aligned; ELA & Math is a learn to practice and feedback learning method. Therefore it benefits the criteria in that CRA talks about modeling and drawing abstract symbols, aligning with practicing what one has learned (Nussli & Oh, 2001). Therefore the technique favors both UDL and CRA

Self-placed learning is the type of learning where the student can learn on his own time and schedule. The students do not have to complete or do the same assignments or learn simultaneously. This is almost the opposite of the methods discussed initially. The other group was deeply involved in lessons as they were conducted in real-time as they practiced assignments and the student’s responses. This type does not involve the above, for the learner learns at his own chosen time, and he is not obliged to do the assignments. This method, therefore, is not as involving, and the learner is at his own pace and extra comfort.

Self-placed learning is when the learner can control the quantity of material and the time he needs to learn new information. Also, it is the best type of learning for employees who could study on their own time. It favors those working who do not have the luxury of attending classes or lessons at a confined time frame.

Concerning exceptional students, the learning program suits them. This is because it gives them the time they require to take in and to control the amount of knowledge intake they can accommodate at a particular time. Individuals who learn and work simultaneously can also be grouped under exceptional learners. They cannot learn as average students because mostly, the time they are at school, they are at work and therefore learning with rules and time frames that are set by themselves proves to be vital to their learning. Similarly, the students with short concentration spans will require this learning to accommodate their capacities at a given time. Therefore this method ultimately favors exceptional students. UDL principles talk about engaging the learner and having activities and experiences. This program does not involve the student as such. The student is not in proper contact with his teachers. The fact that they can choose to or not do assignments makes them not take great lengths in the learning process. They are not so much engaged in the whole process for they learn, but they do not practice, and similarly the to not get responses for you cannot get responses without presenting a practice. Therefore the learning type limits UDL principles.

CRA also stands as a method that the students practice and model the things they have learned after learning. It involves modeling the tangible things they see and practicing their knowledge about their observation. In Self based learning, There is no proper guidance for the same. Therefore, it can not be involved as such. Looking at it differently, the student has his time planned out and can do everything at his leisure; they tend to have more time deciding and can engage in modeling the concrete materials. Here the student does a thing at his leisure to his particular understanding with his own rules. Therefore in a way, it favors CRA (Wolters, 1998).

The principles include engagement, representation, action, and, most importantly, expression. These principles play a major role in ensuring students and teachers maximize these learning opportunities. Khan academic is mainly a non-profit website with the primary aim of providing a free, world-class education for every student anywhere. These websites help in supporting an effective way focused on building a specific understanding of students. It allows students to work from concrete materials in the creation of the representational drawing, particularly by using and creating representational drawings that use abstract symbols. The website is effective in improving the conceptual understanding of students. Besides, the websites if effective in teaching place values, fractions, and other problems supported by research. One major limitation of these programs is that they only focus on specific areas, thus limiting their effectiveness and impacts on students.
