Unit 7 Discussion MT302 Stress Management on the Job
Studies show that mentoring and trust from a senior member within an organization play a major role in enhancing the ability of staff to deal with and respond effectively to stressful situations or events. Mentoring and trust create an organizational culture that ensures employees value and respect specific efforts from their superiors, thus improving their ability to effectively and successfully respond to specific stressful situations. One of the best leaders in the world is Bill Gates. To manage stress among his employees, Bill Gate focuses on ensuring they are provided with either onsite or distance mentoring and counseling. Generally, most employees feel they need help in learning to manage and handle stresses within their jobs. As a result, Bill Gate focuses on providing employees with a basic understanding of specific elements or factors that will help ensure effectiveness and positive outcomes in managing and responding to stresses (Lo et al. 2014).
Handling stress is important as it plays a significant role in affecting the general performance and, most importantly, the productivity of an organization. Handling stress for leaders like Bill Gate has become one of the most important factors of consideration. It, therefore, involves understanding specific causes of stress within their organizations and, most importantly, some of the best effective ways to respond and manage these situations (Liu et al., 2010). In this way, Bill Gates, as a leader, helps to improve employees’ understanding of these strategies, thus ensuring effectiveness in improving performance and productivity, both at the individual level and organizational level. In some situations, I normally use this method of stress management and response. The method is effective in dealing with current stressful situations and in preventing such situations from happening again, thus making it one of the most effective methods.
