Personal Reflection: Why would others follow you as their leader? Explain
People would embrace me as a leader primarily because they trust me. A trustworthy workplace offers individuals a sense of safety and reduces chit-chat and gossip, enabling tasks to be completed swiftly and with minimal time and energy. Working smarter, not harder, is a mantra I frequently repeat to individuals, advising them that they should undertake a step backward and reflect on the project at hand. I always encourage others to utilize their brains to figure out ways to do things properly and efficiently without losing energy and resources. When it concerns morals and principles, I display authenticity and a consistent, dependable style as a leader. Moreover, I do portray concern for others as well as their well-being.
The other reason why individuals should follow me as their leader is that I am mindful of whom the workers are as individuals, not just employees. It demonstrates to others that I have a sense of humanity, and it provides encouragement for staff to stay (Tracy, 2021). Also, by establishing a workplace atmosphere in which individuals desire to operate and like working for the organization shows that I am a competent leader. Another crucial component in leadership is organizational sustainability. Understanding that I have a tight grip on things even at the most tumultuous periods offers them a sense of safety. In my leadership approaches, I employ an open door or open-book approach. This type of activity gives employees a feeling of what is to come in the years ahead and where the firm is heading (Tracy, 2021).
Impact: How would you motivate them to pursue the vision you outline, not because you order them to do so, but because they want to do so enthusiastically on their own?
Positive reinforcement and recognizing achievements, no matter how minor, can drive employees. A simple remark like “we wouldn’t be this far today if it wasn’t for all of your efforts” gives individuals a pleasant sense of success. Establish objectives and inspire everyone to help you attain them. Making constant, unambiguous objectives and standards would motivate individuals to work effectively to meet workplace goals (Jackson, 2021). I would accomplish this via the skill of one-on-one interactions, which is an excellent motivator. Emotional involvement is created by getting to understand the employees and learning about their goals. Going out and inquiring workers if they have the resources to do their tasks effectively and more quickly.
Feedback: Ask someone you trust and who can be objective, “What is my greatest asset as a leader?” In your journal, record the response and whether you agree or disagree and why.
I queried my General Manager, believing he would be fair and truthful, my strongest attribute as a leader. His remark surprised me, and I’m still not certain exactly why, but he says I’m friendly and supportive to the workers. I try to teach individuals to perform to the best of their abilities while never being hesitant to raise queries along the process. I go out of my way to be nice and pleasant to everybody, and I have a reliable connection with everybody on the team. He claimed that I find unique approaches to get around to the most resistant individuals, which he idolizes the most, and that I regularly compliment individuals on their achievements. He claims that regardless of the most difficult circumstances, I make things appear to be easier and inspire employees to be more confident in themselves. After conversing with him, I reflected on my leadership skills, and I concur with his appraisal of my leading abilities. As a result, I feel more confident as a leader.
