Motivation at Didi

Motivation helps push people to achieve goals or objectives. Jean Liu aims at making Didi Chuxing one of the leading companies in transportation and automotive technology. Her efforts make the company the largest operator of vehicle networks in the world (Khang, 2017). Jean Liu states that she is in no hurry to list out its shares as it is still young. Ms. Liu aims at strengthening Didi Chuxing and acquiring partnerships from different parts of the world (Khang, 2017). The company’s operations demonstrate different motivational theories like the Two Factor Theory by Frederick Herzberg and the Acquired Needs Theory by Douglas McClelland. The Two Factor Theory classifies the needs of hygiene and motivating factors. Both of these factors aim at employee satisfaction as a means of achieving success (Alshmemri et al., 2017). Hygiene factors include policies, working conditions, salary and safety. Motivating factors include recognition, achievement, growth, and creating interest in work. The Acquired Needs Theory states that motivation for work arises from the need for achievement, power, and affiliation (Attiq et al., 2019).

The president of Didi Chuxing, Jean Liu, hails from a Chinese background. People in the country possess several cultural traits when it comes to conducting or running a business. The Chinese belief system insists on the philosophy of Confucianism which focuses on good behavior, ethics and morals (Liu & Stening, 2016. This philosophy implies that creating networks in relationships relies on forming a foundation of loyalty, modesty, solidarity, and courtesy. This culture is also demonstrated in how the current president of Didi Chuxing conducts her activities in the company. She creates an atmosphere of loyalty, especially with partners, which is demonstrated by their trust in the company despite being young in the market. The company is also well known for practicing empathy and emotional intelligence to promote cooperation between the drives and partners of the company.
