Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR)
The triple line bottom line is a theory that companies use to account for their performance in terms of profits, people, and the environment. TBL measures a company’s commitment to corporate social responsibility (CSR) and impacts the planet over time. The CSR approach helps businesses take on the responsibility of their operation and the wellbeing of the environment. Apple Inc. is a Big Tech company that develops, creates, and produces software and electronics globally. The company’s headquarters are located in California, USA.
Apple Inc. continues to improve its performance, demonstrated by the annual rise in revenue. The company strives to be different from other competitors in the market by their management style, design DNA and thinking differently. Some of the programs and initiatives by Apple Inc. are sustainability by supporting local communities, supporting employees through training and education, maintaining human rights, and taking responsibility for their carbon emissions. The company encourages staff to volunteer and engage in projects that build their local society (Boubaker et al., 2018). Apple Inc. has a code of conduct related to how the staff is treated and practices that create fair and safe working environments.
The company also makes use of recycling in order to minimize solid wastes in the environment. The company has goals of minimizing its carbon footprint in the environment significantly (Boubaker et al., 2018). All CRS programs aim to increase job satisfaction. Employers expect staff to participate in these programs. However, these expectations are not motivated as some employees do not feel that the projects are not meaningful to them, which lowers job satisfaction. Some employees also require employees to contribute to projects that are not always suitable for every individual (Robbins & Judge, 2019). Other projects cannot be related to an employee’s actual work, hence, reducing job satisfaction.
