Following Jesus
I decided to follow Jesus Christ over three years ago. I can vividly remember the day it all happened. I was out with my friends in a local club where we were partying in indulging in all manner of sinful activities and behavior. At around midnight, I stepped out of the club to freshen up, and there I met a young lady on the hood of a pickup truck with earphones in ahead. I approached her to ask why she was alone outside at night. Coherently, ten minutes into the conversation, she handed me her eye phone as a challenge to listen to what she was listening to. To my amazement, she was listening to bible teachings from a local pastor within my community. The sermon was about the love of Christ for everyone irrespective of their sinful nature. I was moved with the preaching to the point of crying as I realized how much I am loved and cared for by Jesus Christ. On that night, I decided to change my way and follow Christ. The following Sunday, I went to church and gave my life to Christ as my personal savior.
Spiritual growth
Over the last three years, I have experienced tremendous spiritual growth as a Christian. When I gave my life to Christ, I had difficulties in nearly all the areas of spiritual life, such as praying, reading the bible, and sharing my faith with others, especially friends and family. Initially, I did have challenges and difficulties understanding and reading God’s word and extracting its meaning for my life. However, I took an interest in engaging in Christian groups within and outside my local church as a means to expand my faith and knowledge in Jesus. Today, I am to comprehend most of the scripture in the bible, which is a testimony for my growth as Christina.
Moreover, I struggle as a new believer with prayers. I did not know how to talk or express myself before Jesus Christ. However, after attending numerous youth seminars and weekly revivals, I have been able to pray with ease. As a Christian, the growth I have experienced can largely be attributed to the consistent prayer life I have adopted since I gave my life to Christ over three years ago. Today, I am able to pray for myself but to others who may need prayers in their lives.
Furthermore, I have observed that my interest in sharing the word of God has intensified as my faith grew over the years. I was a shay and reversed person, which made it difficult to share my faith. Nonetheless, through prayers and supplication, I have been able to lead community revivals and youth meetings in sharing the word of God. My interest in sharing the gospel of Jesus Christ opened doors for me to spend several months in Kenya and Tanzania ministering to the youth in early 2020.
Joining Biola University
I am seeking to attend Biola University because it underpins Christian evangelical teaching and values with the courses offered. More so, the Christian-centered education will be instrumental in enhancing both my spiritual and academic life. Furthermore, the university is culturally diversified. This means I will get an opportunity to share and experience faith with believers from other parts of the world
